Nero d'Avola red wine cake recipe
Nero d’Avola red-wine cake is a dessert very fluffy with a good flavor. The spices’s scent and the unmistakable taste of dark chocolate making cake very unique and tasty. Easy to prepare, is ideal for a romantic dinner or amaze your friends.

  • 150ml nero d’Avola red wine
  • 250g flour 00
  • 4 eggs
  • 250g unsalted butter
  • 250g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ½ teaspoon cloves powder
  • 20g cocoa powder
  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 16g baking powder
  • powdered sugar for topping
In a food processor, blend butter and sugar to get a cream. Add once each, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa powder, yolks (preserving the egg white!) and Nero d’Avola red wine. Mix all ingredients to get a uniform colour cream.
Then put the mixture in a bowl and add sifted flour and baking powder mixing well with a spatula to avoid clots. In another bowl, beat the white eggs until foamy with an electric whisk and combine them with mixture, mixing gently, blend together and set aside. Then, chop the dark chocolate with a knife and add it to the mixture that you have gotten. Pour the mixture into a pan prepared with wax paper and put it into preheat oven to 150°. Cook for 90 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Cool the cake completely before sliding it onto a serving plate. Sift the powdered sugar over the top.
